How Long Does it Take to Get NCLEX Results: A Quick Guide
After completing the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), it is natural to feel eager and curious about when you will receive your results.
This is an important milestone in your nursing career, and it can be both exciting and anxiety-inducing.
Therefore, it is understandable that you want to know how long it will take for you to get your results.
How Long Does it Take to Get Your NCLEX Results?
It usually takes about six weeks for your official NCLEX results to become available. A majority of students receive their results sooner, but in case it takes longer, you should wait for the entire six-week period before contacting your nursing regulatory body.
For those eager to know their results earlier, the NCLEX Quick Results Service offers unofficial results within 48 hours for a small fee.
Although these results don’t grant you a nursing license, they can provide some relief while awaiting official results.
How to Discover Your NCLEX Results
In this section, I’ll explain three methods to find out if you passed the NCLEX: unofficial results via the Quick Results Service, official results from your nursing regulatory body, and the Pearson Vue Trick (PVT).
1. Quick Results Service for Unofficial Results
If your nursing regulatory body (NRB) participates in the Quick Results Service, you can use this method to obtain your unofficial results.
The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) offers the Quick Results Service to various state boards of nursing.
This service allows you to access your unofficial results two business days after taking the exam for a fee of $7.95 (as of the time of this writing).
However, these results are not official and do not authorize you to practice as a licensed nurse. Your NRB will release official results approximately six weeks after taking the NCLEX.
2. Obtaining Official Results from Your Nursing Regulatory Body
The official results are crucial as they grant you permission to practice as a licensed nurse.
To obtain your official results, you must go through your NRB. Unfortunately, this process can take up to six weeks.
If you have not received your results after six weeks, contact your NRB.
3. Pearson Vue Trick (PVT)
The Pearson Vue Trick (PVT) provides an unofficial indication of whether you may have passed the NCLEX.
Four hours after the exam, you will log in to your Pearson Vue account and attempt to pay for a retake.
If you see a message stating that “another registration cannot be made at this time” or something similar, it may indicate that you passed the NCLEX.
Otherwise, if the payment is accepted (aka the bad popup), it could suggest that you did not pass.
Keep in mind that the Pearson Vue NCLEX Trick is neither an official nor a 100% reliable way to determine your result.
